Chief among them is Joules, Arts Fresco’s headline sponsor for the fourth year running. As always, Joules will be throwing itself into the mayhem with all the enthusiasm of a Harborough business, born and bred. We’d like to thank them all. Without their financial support, there would be no Arts Fresco. And September would once again be that dull month when you realise that summer’s over and Christmas is still three months away.

Arts Fresco is famous for being the street festival blessed with more gold stars than an EU flag. Expect more of the same for 2010. Much more. Arts Fresco now has such a high standing within the street-theatre community, the acts are queueing to be booked. That makes the job of programming team, all the harder. How do they whittle them down to the very best?

Booking fun by the metre

Luckily the team has a trick up its sleeve: a ruler. They’re not just checking whether street acts measure up to the demanding Arts Fresco standard, they’re measuring their height above see level.

That’s right, any act on stilts or ladders or wearing seven league boots is more likely to earn a nod of approval. The team’s on a mission to give everyone in the 25,000-plus Arts Fresco audience a first-class view of the fun

It’s early days yet. Over the coming weeks, we’ll let you know who or what you can expect to meet on the streets of Harborough this September. One thing’s for sure, you’ll see wild inventiveness, the like of which you’ve never seen before.

What may surprise many as this event is entirely managed by local Volunteers and each year we’re keen to welcome new helpers keen to contribute to this fantastic community event. We’re not after any particular skills, just people with a passion to make this year’s event even better than before.
