The George Kitson Award – 2010
Presented in honour of George Kitson, our former patron who sadly passed away earlier this year, we have have decided to make an annual award to the company we believe has made the greatest contribution to the advancement of street arts this year.
Our worthy winner for 2010 is Metro Boulot DoDo – a highly imaginative street arts company based in Leicester. This year we recommend you book early for their stunning take on the traditional Hansel and Gretel story.
METRO-BOULOT-DODO is a Leicester based arts organisation that consists of 3 talented artists who collaborate to create innovative cross art form performances. MBD is known for a unique blend of live performance, original soundtrack and cutting edge new media, all combined with an unforgettable quirky sense of humour. After initially starting out producing end-on performances to tour arts centres across the UK, MBD have diversified into other areas of live art, outdoor performance, large scale and site specific installation, visual art and new media.
“METRO-BOULOT-DODO is one of the brightest of the new crop of theatre companies disregarding theatrical convention”
